During your first session (intake), we will review your completed informed consent, background information, and HIPAA paperwork. After reviewing your paperwork, we will discuss the reason you came for therapy. Your first session generally takes about 60 min. Therapy sessions will be 50min
During the intake session I will ask about your medical, mental, social, and relational health to gain a complete picture of what is going on in your world.
In the first few sessions we will work together to create realistic and meaningful goals for your treatment and set up a treatment plan for the duration of your therapy. We will continue to collaborate to reach your goals at a set time, day, and frequency agreed upon by you.
It is important to know that as your therapist, I do not give “advice,” but I will empower you to grow, heal, and change. I will provide support and guidance when it is necessary, as well as pray with you if you desire.
Therapy can be an extremely beneficial yet challenging process. It takes active participation from you and a willingness to be honest and vulnerable. My purpose is to provide a safe place for you to heal, to be able to communicate openly without fear of judgement, and to support you in working through difficult transitions in your life and relationships.
Your therapy is unique to you and there is not a set number of sessions to be finished. It is an ongoing process that ebbs and flows. It is common to feel worse before feeling that things are getting better as you begin to confront issues that you may have otherwise been avoiding until this point. We will continually evaluate our time together to ensure the effectiveness and relevance to your goals.
Note: As you are encountering a faith-based practice, let it be understood that although my philosophy is based on my faith in God, I will never impose my faith upon a client. It is up to the client to decide how or if their own faith system will be incorporated explicitly into their therapy.
